Chris Dawson BA(HON), MBA, CFP®
Chris Dawson is a native of Bay Roberts, Newfoundland and Labrador. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Carleton University (1985) and a Master of Business Administration from Memorial University (2003). Chris is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional (2015). He joined IG Wealth Management in February 2006 as an Advisor and joined his brother Edmund’s practice in the fall of 2011. In the spring of 2015, Chris was appointed Executive Financial Consultant.
Genevieve Dawson BA, LLB
Genevieve Dawson joined Dawson & Associates Private Wealth Management in August of 2017. She holds a BA from Memorial University and a LLB from the University of Manitoba. After studying political science at Memorial University she worked as a Member’s Assistant with the House of Commons in Ottawa. Genevieve received a LLB in 1993 and practiced law in private practice for 24 years in St. John’s.
As a retired lawyer she brings a lot of experience concerning estate planning, insurance, and mortgage planning. Over the last 24 years Genevieve has worked with numerous not-for-profit groups in St. John’s.
Ed Dawson CFP®, RRC
Ed began his career with IG in 1983. He worked as Executive Financial Consultant managing a portfolio over $115 million. Ed became a member of The Executive & Senior Consultant Group, a level of recognition acknowledging the sustained business excellence and continued success of top-performing Consultants. More recently, Ed became a member of Private Wealth Management, a group comprised of qualifying Consultants who, through professional planning and a team-based approach, have proven proficiency in serving the high net worth market.
June 2015, Ed changed his role to become Executive Financial Associate to his brother Chris Dawson. Ed is a valued member of the Dawson Team, bringing with him his years of knowledge, experience, and his excellent rapport with clients.
Ed also received the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal* in January 2013.
* The Canadian medal, which is to "honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians, is administered by the Chancellery of Honours at Rideau Hall and was awarded to 60,000 citizens and permanent residents of Canada who made a significant contribution to their fellow countrymen, their community, or to Canada over the previous sixty years.
Katie Lee Hutchings
Katie Lee began her position with IG Wealth Management in May of 2013, working as an Administrative Assistant to Chris & Ed Dawson. Katie Lee helps manage day-to-day tasks, works with existing clients and aids in bringing in new clients.
She has had several jobs in the financial sector and would like to continue to grow her understanding of the financial business industry. She completed her CFIC (Canadian Investment Funds Course) in 2019 and has taken on a new role as Wealth Management Assistant. She is also involved in various community activities, as well as working with individuals who have pervasive needs. She looks forward to having more involvement by volunteering within the Special Olympics in the future.
Gail Kavanagh
Gail, currently a resident of Clarke’s Beach, NL, started working with Edmund Dawson of IG Wealth Management in February 1996. She graduated in December 1995 with a Medical/Legal Secretarial Course, and completed the Canadian Investment Funds Course in April 2019. In June 2019, she pursued her career as an Wealth Management Assistant with Dawson & Associates PWM.
Gail is recognized by her peers and clients alike for always providing valuable information and exceptional client service.
Patrick Dawson
Patrick Dawson completed a Master's degree in Communication and Culture from a joint graduate program offered by York and Toronto Metropolitan Universities in 2022. He has since begun work as a Social Media Coordinator with Dawson & Associates in 2023. Along with running the practice's social media accounts, he also edits their website and coordinates other marketing services such as photography.
Prior to his time at Dawson & Associates, Patrick has worked at Perchance Theatre in Front of House Marketing and the Community Sector Council NL as a Digital Youth Recruitment Intern. These jobs have built upon the experience he developed while enrolled in a Diploma in Performance and Communications Media, and Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Communication Studies, at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is passionate about all things multimedia and enjoys bringing that energy to his work at Dawson & Associates every day.
